homemade hamburger buns

We all know making things from scratch is cheaper, but we usually don't have time. This recipe had great reviews, & was really easy. Tasty too!

1 1/4 cups milk slightly warmed
1 beaten egg
2 TBS butter
1/4 cup white sugar
3/4 tsp salt
3 3/4 cup bread flour
1 1/4 tsp yeast

Pour all ingredients in bread machine & set dough setting. (you could also mix like regular dough, but you'd have to knead it some). After it's done in bread machine, turn onto floured surface. Cut dough in half & roll out 1" thick. But into six 3 1/2" rounds with inverted glass. Do same with other half of dough. (I actually just formed the dough into 12 rounds, pressed them flat a bit. Worked great). Place on greased baking sheet & brush with melted butter. Top with sesame seeds if desired. Cover & let rise about 1 hour. Bake at 350 for 9-20 min (or in solar oven...have to keep an eye on it to see when they're done).

This did make 12 buns, which is a lot for us. But we took some to a family cook out for hamburgers, made barbecue beef the next night with them, & the last night we made the rest into garlic bread (cut in half, spread butter on, sprinkle italian seasoning & garlic salt. Broil until lightly browned). The last one went to the chickens. That's a lot of meals for 1 set of cooking!
